What’s not to love about babies? For any doting new parent, their baby’s adorably soft cheeks, tiny hand wrapping around their finger, and thin, wispy hair are a sight they can’t get used to.
As a mom of 4 myself, I know how much you wish your babies would stay the same way forever. Sadly, though, babies change and grow so quickly. Every single day, especially within their first year, you’ll notice your precious little one changing a little more.
Capturing your baby’s milestones is important. In a life full of firsts, a photo session with your baby as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime will give you something to look back at when they’re older.
When you’re hiring me as your lifestyle and newborn baby photographer in Dallas, Texas, here are some things you can do to ensure your baby’s shoot is perfect:
Feed and burp the baby beforehand
Baby photo shoots are meant to capture your baby’s adorable innocence but it can quickly go south when your child decides to spew their lunch all over you. You’ll notice that your baby is a lot more agreeable when they have a full stomach. If you’re lucky, they might even fall asleep and give us a chance to take plenty of iconic sleeping baby shots.
Don’t dress them too much
Themed photo shoots are adorable but every baby doesn’t want to be dressed in a quirky costume for hours at length. To avoid a frustrating situation—both for yourself and your baby who’s constantly tugging and pulling at the fussy clothes—just opt for something simple.
Many parents go for plain, solid-colored onesie for their babies while others prefer a more organic by opting for their birthday suit.
Keep your baby warm
A smooth photography session relies on your baby’s level of comfort. A warm, toasty environment is perfect for keeping your baby satisfied. Whether your shoot is at home or at the studio, make sure the temperature is around 28 degrees Celsius.
Bundle up your little ray of sunshine in a cozy blanket so they’re always comfortable. A happy baby means everyone else is happy!
Work around their sleep schedule
Many new parents struggle with their baby’s sleep schedules. It always seems like your baby is sleeping when you want them to be awake and they’re wide awake when you expect them to be dozing off.
Keep your baby awake for an hour or two before the session so they fall soundly asleep when the time comes.
