2018 and 2019 have been full of gorgeous and fun weddings! From Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ glitzy East-meets-West affair to Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Vegas bash, it’s been quite the few months.
We can expect to see even more notable weddings as summer rolls around, and we’re obsessed with it all. The food, the fashion, the décor—all the trends keep evolving and reaching new heights!
Which is why we’ve outlined some of the most breathtaking and gorgeous wedding trends that have been all the rage lately.
I now pronounce you, fiancé and fiancée
That’s right, the newest wedding trend is engagement photoshoots. It’s something we’ve been observing as wedding photographers in Dallas—that more and more couples are deciding to go all in on their engagement period. Couples go all out when proposing, even staying engaged for a year at times, according to this newlywed report.
Not only that, but couples also want their engagement to be a shared experience; which is why they want quick photoshoot turnaround times so they can share the pictures on their socials.
Shareability is non-negotiable for millennial couples, and we’re always more than happy to provide our engagement photography clients in Texas the quickest edits possible.
Color me Coral
Weddings have come a long way from being monochromatic experiences. After last year’s neutral and understated pastel themes, this is the season of color splashes. Couples this year prefer to decorate the venue themselves with new and innovative color combinations.
This brings us to “Living Coral,” which is the new Pantone Color of the Year. It’s been the central theme in quite a few wedding photography sessions that we’ve conducted.
Flora, Fauna, and Saunas
Last season was all about the organic ferns and minimal floral work, but this year, it’s all about setting up dramatic and stunning installations as part of destination weddings—which is also another trend to watch out for! Many couples are focusing more on guests’ experience; some even provide guests with exotic treats and spa-themed amenities during their grand weddings.
Rust or Bust
Many young couples are choosing to have a long line of bridesmaids and groomsmen accompany them on the day of their shoot. As photographers, we have been privy to some really long chains.
What’s more, gone are the days when brides would outfit their bridesmaids in subtle dresses. Now, bridesmaids wear dazzling jewel tones: emerald, sapphire, and rust. Their dresses are also made up of combined textures.
Groomsmen are opting for velour or velvet for suits with custom-stitched lining, meaning the suits can be worn again if needed.
Smoke bombs and drone drops
2019 is about welcoming the new and now, especially with regard to photography/videography styles; we‘ve done our fair share of drone shots and sky-view photography over the last few months.
Couples don’t want to remember their big day in the same way their parents did. They’re using innovative methods of coverage, entertainment, and entrance. Many couples enter their receptions with dramatic smoke bomb announcements and guests are given goody bags by drone delivery!
At Lily Hayes Photography, we’re obsessed with these unbelievable wedding trends and are eager to make your special day even more special by using them. We offer a range of engagement and wedding photography packages, along with consultations as needed.
