The Bride Guide: How to Pose for Wedding Photos

Bride posing during her photoshoot

Even though the planning process may be stressful, your big day is almost here, finally! It’s something you’ve waited for a very long time, and now you want to look and feel your best, even in your wedding photos. But how do you pose for them and show off your best side?

As wedding photographers, we understand brides get nervous and excited at the same time for their shoot, and that’s normal.

In our opinion, candid photos look much better and natural, but if you want to strut your stuff and get photographic evidence of your best look, here are simple poses to strike for your wedding photos.

Admire Your Dress

You’ve waited years and spent months finding the perfect white dress for your wedding, and this is the time to admire it.

Once you’re done with your hair and makeup, have your dress hung right in front of you and admire it for a few moments before you put it on.

You can have your bridal photographer in the changing room with you to capture all the raw, unfiltered moments and deliver beautiful results.

Fix His Bowtie

Weddings are generally deemed as her big day, but the groom should be equally involved in the photos and planning; after all, it’s his big day too.

If you’re uncomfortable posing alone, bring your soulmate in for some poses while you get a bit more comfortable being in front of a camera. You can pretend to fix your groom’s tie and have an intimate moment with the love of your life before the actual wedding.

Twirl in Your Dress

Twirling in your dress is a classic pose; you probably did it in your little dresses as a kid, and now as a grown woman, it’ll still make you feel beautiful.

Your wedding dress may look stunning from every angle, but twirling around allows your bridal photographer to capture all the angles with movement, making the dress come to life.

Laugh for the Candid Photos

There’s nothing better than capturing your happiness on the big day. You can pose and fake smile all your want, but it’s the honest laughter that stands out and makes for a great picture.

Candid and posed photos of the bride and bridesmaids

You can pose with your groom or bridesmaid and laugh about something silly while your wedding photographer does their job. Don’t forget to relax your face, or you’ll end up looking like a soulless demon.
