5 Questions Your Wedding Photographer Should Ask You

With so many great options to choose from when it comes to wedding photography, you might be in a bit of a pickle here.

So let’s make it easier for you. When interviewing a potential wedding photographer, here are some of the questions you should ask to know whether they’ll be the best fit for your special day!

But First, A Note…

The following questions are aside from basic inquiries a wedding photographer may make, regarding style, budget, need for hard and digital copies etc.

Q.1: How Many Guests will you have at Your Wedding?

It’s easy to cover a small wedding. But with a bigger number, they will need an assistant or a second photographer to cover the areas they may not have time for. If your photographer doesn’t talk about a second photographer for a wedding that has 300-400 guests, you may need to think twice about hiring them.

Q.2: What are your expectations from my services?

This is a more insightful question. Your photographer should be curious about what you want, whether you have any creative posing ideas or themes you want to follow etc. They should also be excited about trying new things and working alongside you to create something unique.

Q.3: How many group photos do you need?

Basic wedding group shots include pictures of the groom’s family, the bride’s family, groomsmen, bridesmaids, friends of the wedded couple and any close family and friends. But aside from that, if you want particular group shots, you have to inform your photographer.

Q.4: Is there anything you’d like to ask about the wedding contract?

Before signing the contract, your photographer should be helpful about explaining any details regarding the arrangement. The contract covers the basic details like the budget, the number of photos you want, total group photos, special shots and more. If they try to hurry you to sign the contract without assuring your knowledge of the details, they may have something to hide, like added charges.

Q.5: How did you two meet?

Your photographer will be responsible for capturing special memories of the happiest day of your life. They should be aware of any important people, special songs or hints (like dances or ceremonies), that were a part of your relationship history.
